The module experimental flight mechanics consists of three main topics and lasts for two semesters.
In the first part the basics of manual flying are taught and practiced in the research simulator SEPHIR. The second part deals with the flight characteristics and how these can be determined by flight tests. Further topics include training of test pilots and flight test engineers, pilot and behavior models and handling qualities testing.
In the third part, the basics of automatic flying are taught and the use of the control units in the cockpit of a commercial airliner is discussed. The knowledge is then put into practice in a full flight simulator.
